Community Involvement

MCNR is deeply committed to supporting our region through active participation and involvement in all facets of community life.

Professional Development
MCNR plays a leadership role in developing the next generation of healthcare professionals from educational institutions including Yale University, University of Connecticut, Norwich Technical School, Goodwin College and Quinebaug Valley Community College.

MCNR is a clinical rotation site for RN, LPN, CNA, occupational therapist assistant students, speech therapy, and is a preceptor site for physical therapy, therapeutic recreation and speech therapy students. The rehabilitation department provides opportunities for students to observe physical and occupational therapists at work, fulfilling academic observation requirements.

Community Education
MCNR nurses help to educate patients and families at regional hospitals including Windham and Backus about congestive heart failure (CHF), one of the leading causes of avoidable hospital readmissions. Our staff is in demand and available to speak on a variety of topics including:
