Our Medical Director
Ralph J. Laguardia, MD joined us as the Medical Director at Mansfield Center for Nursing & Rehabilitation in December, 2018. He is an internist in private practice in Mansfield, CT specializing in Bariatrics and Geriatrics and is a credentialed physician at Windham Hospital. Dr. Laguardia has been in practice for over 30 years.
In his role as Medical Director at MCNR, Dr. Laguardia brings vision, leadership and guidance to staff and consulting physicians. He leads the Organized Medical Board and the quarterly meetings with community physicians and MCNR department heads. His responsibilities include oversight of the care and clinical practice provided, facilitating the development of quality and safety protocols; supporting employee health; approving clinical policies and procedures and conducting policy review. Dr. Laguardia is a member of the facility's Quality Assurance Committee, advising and suggesting enhancements related to quality indicators and infection control.
Utilizing his exceptional experience in geriatric medicine, Dr. Laguardia treats the whole person – mind, body and soul, and provides patients and families with a thorough review of the suggested plan of care and anticipated outcome. Through these interactions, Dr. Laguardia builds a bond with both patient and family, engaging them on a very personal level with support and clinical understanding that instills hope combined with realistic expectations.
